Welcome from the Secretary General ...

It is my pleasure to introduce the Web Site of the Arab Neonatology Forum (ANF). This site has been established to make information on neonatal care easily and conveniently available to Member States, interested agencies and individuals worldwide. The site will improve access to information, improve communications between ANF staff and the health care community in the region and allow for faster provision of information and services to ANF partners. The objectives of ANF Web site are:
• to promote awareness of ANF activities.
• to disseminate ANF policy and scientific/technical information.
• to expand access to ANF information to ANF Member States and worldwide.
• to increase efficiency and cut costs in producing and distributing information.
• to link information from various ANF sources and another relevant scientific institutions worldwide, with specific emphasis on information resources in the Region.
• to provide information to the parents about the health care of the newborn.
ANF will try to keep this site alive through regular updating and periodic revision of information. ANF welcomes the contribution of every one concerning with the care of newborn in the Arab region. The scientific peer revised topics are welcome to be published on the web. Some documents will be retained for long period or be permanent, such as historical and policy documents, topical reports, statistics and commonly requested materials. A directory of arab neonatologists is provided for those working inside or outside the arab region. I hope it will help us to strengthen our friendship, find an old friend and know a new one. ANF's Website aims to ensure that the widest range of users interested in different types of health information have access to it. The content of the site therefore includes four broad categories of information:
1. ANF policy is provided through the secretary general’s reports or meeting recommendations.
2. Scientific and technical information is provided in three forms:
a) Peer revised topics sent by members of ANF.
b) Link to scientific information at different institutions worldwide concerned with neonatal care.
c) Papers presented at scientific meeting organized by the ANF.
d) News from the regions especialy involving CME (e.g conferences, workshop, training courses – etc).
3. A special corner published in arabic for parents to help caring of the mother during pregnancy, delivery and post partum, and to provide the advice for keeping their babies healthy.
The site is published in English and Arabic. The information directed to the public is in arabic only. Those who have the capabilities of French translation are welcome to contribute. We are looking forward to receive the visitors’ feedback to make the site even more relevant to their needs and more useful to them.
